Important Change to Vehicle Address Book

This is an important email for all Sylectus users who maintain their fleet on the Sylectus system.

Please make sure the appropriate people in your office take action on this email.

This change will

·         Improve your search filtering ability when doing truck searches.

·         Ensure that when people are searching YOUR trucks, they find the proper truck.

So it is important that all companies take the time to update their truck profiles on the system.

For years, we have been asked to provide a means for users to perform truck searches by truck classes.  We would constantly get the question:  “I want to see just Flat Bed” or “I just want to search for Large Straight Trucks.”

We have made a change to the system so that all trucks must now record their “POSTING TRUCK CLASS”.   We have chosen a set of posting classes as follows:

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Not Defined' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Company has not defined the truck class'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Car/Pick-Up' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Automobile or Pick-Up Truck'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Cargo Van' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Cargo Van Style Vehicle'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Sprinter Van' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Sprinter Van Style Vehicle'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Cube Van' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Cube Van than is typically NOT dock level'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Small Straight' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Straight Truck under 10,000 pounds payload'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Large Straight' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Straight Truck over 10,000 pounds payload'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Truckload Dry Van' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Tractor Trailer with Dry Van'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Flatbed' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Flatbed type Vehicle'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Reefer' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Refrigerated Type of Vehicle'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Power Only' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Tractor unit without a trailer'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Intermodal' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Intermodal unit'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Oversize' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Over size type of unit'.

  • Vehicle Class Name = 'Tanker' is for the class of trucks meaning  'Tanker Type Vehicle'.

When doing truck searches, users will now have the ability to select “none, one or many” of these “posting truck classes” and the resulting truck search results will show only trucks with the selected posting class.

Here is what do you need to do:

To ensure your trucks are properly classified, please do the following:

1.   Sign onto the Sylectus system

2.   Go to main menu FLEETS and sub-menu VEHICLES.  In the vehicle list, the 3rd column will who the “Posting Class” immediately below your companies truck size name.  Make sure the “Posting Class” displayed is appropriate.

3.   If the “Posting Class” says “Not Defined” or is incorrectly defined for the vehicle, click on the vehicle ID to “drill down” into the truck profile.

4.   In the truck profile, the 4th item is the “Posting Class”.  Select the appropriate positing class from the drop down and then SAVE the record.

Thanks to the many, many users over the years that asked for this improvement.

Together, it just keeps getting better ... and the best is yet to come!
