You can now control which reports a user can run
Sylectus (a division of GPSNet Technologies Inc) now gives you great controls over the reports your users can run.
There are hundreds of powerful reports available in the Sylectus system to help you manage your business at every level. This includes:
- Gross Margin reports
- Customer reports
- On Time Performance reports
- Sales Analysis Reports
- Cost Analysis Reports
- Fleet Management (Driver, Tractor, Trailer) reports
- Productivity reports (satellite messaging, auto emails to customers, etc.)
- Brokering activity (sales / costs / best carriers / etc.)
But not everybody needs to see the information in these reports.
You can now control which reports a user can run.
To do this,
- go to main menu USERS and sub-menu User Profiles
- At the bottom-left portion of the user profile, there is a section on
REPORTS and
how this user can view reports.
- "Run Billing Reports" – means the user has the ability to view the Billing Reports Menu and run those reports
- "Run Settlement Reports" – means the user has the ability to view the Settlement Reports Menu and run those reports
- "Run General Reports" – means the user has the ability to view the General Reports Menu and run those reports (note that these reports do not have any financial data)
- "Run NLM Reports" – means the user has the ability to view the NLM Reports Menu and run those reports
- "Modify Scheduled Reports" – means the user has the ability to create and modify schedules to automatically run reports at pre-determined times of the day.
- "Run Sales Reports" – This is for future use.
- "Run Favorite Reports Only" – **NEW** - This means that the user can ONLY run the reports SELECTED FOR THEM by an administrator. This is how you can control what reports a user can see/run. If this is set to Y, they can only run the pre-selected sub-set of reports. This works in conjunction with the run billing/settlements/general/NLM reports.
- If you select "Run Favorite Reports Only" – you must also set the appropriate "Billing / Settlement / General" reports setting to "Y".
- If you select "Run Favorite Reports Only" – you must click on the link "Click here to set this user’s favorite reports" and pre-select the reports they can run.
Here is a screen shot of the area of the USER PROFILE to set the "favorite reports".

Once this is set up, the user will only be allowed to run their "Pre selected favorite reports". They cannot run any other reports or add to their favorites list.
Thanks to John Elliott from Load One for this suggestion (and many other Sylectus users as well).
