Backhaul Assistant: Filter by Truck Size

Thanks to Ken Holden from Load One, the "Backhaul Assistant" now has a filter by Truck Size. This makes it easier to mine your own historical load information to look for back hauls for a particular truck size.

To use the backhaul assistant:
  • Go to main menu CUSTOMERS and sub-menu Backhaul Assistant.
  • Provide the necessary selection / filter information including:
    • The city/state or zip of the focal point of the search.
    • The size of the radius for the search (i.e. 50 miles)
    • The type of routing to use. Either "air miles" (as the crow flies) or routed miles (as a driver would run the roads)
    • NEW – either select a specific TRUCK SIZE or ALL for ALL truck sizes.
    • Either the Pick-Up or Delivery Date to use as a "search as of date"
    • Whether you want to see a map of the locations found or not.
  • Click the SEARCH button.
  • The system will return a list of all the locations that fit your search criteria sorted by closest to farthest. The list will include:
    • Customer ID
    • Customer Name
    • Salesperson associated with the location
    • Customer Address, city and state and phone number.
    • How many times you "picked up" (or delivered, depending on your search criteria) at this location.
    • The distance of this location from your "focal point".
  • You can "Drill down" into a specific customer code to see additional information that includes:
    • A summary of all the destination states for the picked up loads including average length of haul and average load weight
    • The name(s) of the person calling in the freight (who controls the freight).
What is the Backhaul Assistant used for?

Sylectus subscribers have used this tool for various purposes, including:

  1. Helping to find stranded trucks "back hauls" from remote areas.
  2. Recruiters when trying to explain to drivers how many loads they have "going in" or "coming out" of a certain area (like their home city/state)
  3. Sales people preparing to target a certain geographic area for business maintenance.

It just keeps getting better ... and the best is yet to come!
