Hours of Service Enhancements
We have enhanced our automated “Hours of Service” interface as follows:
- In trip monitor, there are now ACTIVE flags to WARN you if a driver will run out of hours on an active load.
- When dispatching a load, the system will actively WARN you if the driver does not have enough hours left in the DAY or the DRIVING WEEK to complete the load you are dispatching them on.
- In the vehicle address book (list of vehicles), there is a quick filter that lets you see all trucks with drivers managed by the automated hours of service system.
These enhancements
- Make it easier to manage your fleet of drivers and their respective available hours in real time.
- Improve the ability for your dispatchers to ensure your drivers adhere to the “hours of service” regulations.
- Proactively warn you of potential hours of service issues.
- improve your ability to meet CSA 2010 legislated requirements.
Recognition: Sylectus integrates with the QUALCOMM (US) and Shaw Tracking (Canadian) automated “Hours of Service” technology. Sylectus provides this “hours of service” data via a real-time interface with Qualcomm / Shaw as an add-on productivity/compliance feature to our AllianceVF and AlliancePro subscribers.
Here are more details about the enhancements:
In trip monitor, there are now ACTIVE flags to warn you if a driver will run out of hours on an active load.
- In trip monitor,
- If the driver has less than 2 hours driving time left, their “Hours of Service” value will turn YELLOW. It will turn RED if they have less than 30 minutes of driving time left.
- If the driver does not have enough “available hours” to make the next stop “protect time”, their available driving hours will turn RED.
- In trip monitor, we now show
- The “number of minutes” it will take the driver to reach the “next stop”;
- The “number of minutes” they will have left in their daily driving hours AFTER they reach the next stop.
- If he “number of minutes” they will have left in their daily driving hours AFTER they reach the next stop is negative, we will show this value in RED.

When dispatching a load, the system will actively WARN you if the driver does not have enough hours left in the DAY or the DRIVING WEEK to complete the load you are dispatching them on.
When dispatching a load, the system will:
- Calculate the total time required to run the load from first pick up to final delivery.
- Compare the “trip hours” to the selected driver “available hours”, both today and “this week” (based on the drivers hours of service “week”).
- Clearly indicate (WARN) if the driver has insufficient hours to complete the assigned load.

Wherever the “Hours of Service” hours are shown, you can “Drill Down” to see the detailed hours of service data. Here is a quick snapshot of one of the key data screens showing “Hours of Service” data:
The data on the screen is as follows:
